Angela Evelyn Bassett has been an American actress since the end of the 1980s. Her work has earned her recognition for her TV and film performances since the early 1980s. Her accolades are two Golden Globe Awards, sixteen NAACP Image Awards as well as nominations for Academy Awards and Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett is a native of New York New York and raised by an aunt in Winston-Salem North Carolina. Bassett as well as her younger sister at the age of five old, made the move away from the city of their birth to St. Petersburg to live with the mother of their separated father. While in high school Bassett was a spectator of John Steinbeck's play Of Mice and Men starring James Earl Jones and decided she would like to be an actor. Following her graduation of Yale University New Haven Connecticut in 1980, with the Bachelor's degree with a major in African American Studies, she went on to earn a Master's Degree (1983) at the Yale School of Drama. Courtney B. Vance was also an actor at Yale. The couple got married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. Graduated from Yale School of Drama School with a Master's Degree in African American studies, in the year 1980.
